Eli Lilly and Company (2002 – present)

  • Current Role: Business Development and Operations Director for a joint-venture initiative charged with the transformation of clinical development.  Emphasis on advanced clinical design, decision support and collaboration between sponsor and CRO.  Dramatic cycle time, productivity, agility and transparency are core outcomes of program.
  • Previous Roles
    • Manager of IT Strategy, Architecture and Portfolio for Global Medical and Regulatory.  Led a high performance team in clinical business strategy and architecture direction supporting 4000 users across full clinical development lifcycle.  Significant areas of transformation included statistical analysis, medical information and data management global initiatives.
    • InterContinental Region (Asia, S. America, Eastern Europe and Canada) lead for clinical IT operations.  Led business strategy and development team for a knowledge management solution for clinical planning of Phase IV commercialization trials in 50+ affiliates around the world for strategic alignment of clinical portfolio and avoidance of redundant trials. Led global team for re-use and scaling of affiliate-based innovation.

Previous Experience:

  • Hospital Staff Pharmacist – Seton Healthcare Network, Central Texas (1999-2002)
    • Outpatient and inpatient staff pharmacist role.
    • Led assessment of pharmacy information systems and development of online formulary management system for real-time access to available Rx options and key messages of stock status for streamlined order placement and clinical consultations.
  • International Healthcare Development Leader – Madagascar (1989-1999)
    • Over period of 10 years, had multiple leadership roles for the Malagasy Lutheran Church Health Department (SALFA).  SALFA is largest health care provider in Madagascar other than Malagasy government system.
    • General Manager (D.A.F.) for SALFA, leading organization through growth phase from 6 institutions to over 30 institutions including 10 surgical tertiary provincial hospitals, 20+ regional clinics and national programs including Primary Health Care, Malaria Prevention, Child Survival, Dental, Eye and TB programs
    • Finance and Human Resource Director leading major entrepreneurial growth phase and maturation of organization.
    • Pharmaceutical Production Director – raised capital funds to establish small-scale production unit in Antananarivo and distributed intravenous solution production in provincial hospitals. Wrote complete book (in French) of intravenous production in rural hospitals using reverse osmosis, aseptic technique and quality systems.
    • Information Systems Director – led transformation of multiple management systems (financial, supply chain, inventory, personnel, international communication, production records, etc…).
  • Relief Pharmacist (1988-1989)
    • Post pharmacy graduation, worked in 30 different pharmacies and hospitals across North Dakota, often as the pharmacist in charge and with full responsibility of pharmacy work during the relief time.
