Nothing like a Saturday morning with your best friends at Chuck-E-Cheese.  From (overstimulating) games to pizza to presents, it doesn’t get much better than this when you are 4.

Matthew is quickly losing his toddler look and is growing into a determined boy.  I thought his sister was competitive, but I think Matthew is one up on her.

Many more photos are available on our SmugMug site.

Update: We had Matthew’s family party last night.  He received a number of fun gifts including a baseball pitching machine and lots of toys for the beach.  Additional photos are available here.

Joshua is moving on to the big school!  This Thursday we Mom, Matthew and Dad got the pleasure of seeing his beaming face throughout the graduation celebration.  There is nothing more touching than seeing your son beam, just because you are there and smiling back at him.

Joshua had a great year and made real progress on many fronts.   He is well prepared for kindergarten next year.  But in the meantime, there are the dog days of summer to play in the water and toys!   More photos are available on our SmugMug site.

Memorial Day 2008

Ahh, the sounds and smell of summer.  BBQ, chips, sodas, and of course, Orange Beans.  We had a great gathering of good friends on Memorial Day 2008.  A nice low-key day of eating, fun and eating some more.  More photos are available on our SmugMug site.

Joshua’s 6th Birthday

Our little guy is growing up!  Joshua turned 6 today and we celebrated his birthday this weekend.  We had a great time at Chucky Cheese yesterday with a number of Joshua’s friends.  I think we could power our home for a week with the energy the kids had playing games and dancing.  Saturday evening was a beautiful night so we had ice cream dessert on the deck.

This morning, Joshua got to pick out the Dunkin’ Donuts for breakfast.  Later we had a birthday lunch at McDonald’s and then presents with the family at home.  Joshua is entering the world of real golf clubs.  Unfortunately they didn’t arrive on time so he had to settle for the photo today.  There were plenty of other distractions to carry him through an exciting day, including a trip to the nearby park.

Lots of photos are available on our SmugMug site.

Family Walk

Summer is here, at least in our hearts.  It is still a bit cool most days but it is great to see green grass and trees in full display.  This past week we took care of our neighbor’s dog, Savana.  It made for a fun family walk, albeit shortened by rain.  A couple photos are available on our SmugMug site.

Dandelions and Swing

Every evening after dinner we go out for a walk.  We’ve had great spring weather of late and our favorite spot is just 5 minutes away.  Tonight, Emily’s friend Lauren joined us for a bike/walk combo to the nearby rope swings and open field.

The kids were fascinated by the dandelions and Daddy found many opportunities to put his new Nikon camera in action.  Below is a small slideshow of the photos.

Daddy’s ## Birthday

Ok, so I am not going to give away how many candles this year.  Nonetheless, know that Cinco de Mayo was a fun evening with a Mexican dinner (of course!), Bub’s ice cream for dessert and then some family time with presents.  It was a great day and there are some shots on our SmugMug site.

Tom’s birthday present came a few days early, a new digital SLR camera.  After weeks of considering different options, Tom went with a Nikon kit.  This morning he took his first pictures – of the kids of course!  There is a sampling of the photos on our SmugMug site.

Matthew’s First Bike

Today we celebrated an early birthday present for Matthew.  He is a growing boy, now almost 4 years old.  Mommy and Matthew picked up a green/blue bike because it is “cool like Joshua’s bike”.

It was a chilly day but Matthew bundled up and took the bike for his first ride, cheered on by his big brother and sister.  A few more photos are available on our SmugMug site.

Emily is 9!

It has been 9 quick years since we were driven by the Quanbecks through the cobblestone roads of Antananarivo to the Poly Clinique d’Ilafy for Emily’s birth.  Her birthday started with a sleepover with her neighbor friend Sarah Kate, only to awake to fresh Dunkin Donuts for breakfast (Thanks, Mom!).  She joined another friend for a morning of laser tag – a great thrill for our maturing girl.

We celebrated her birthday with a quiet family gathering in the afternoon, opening presents from the Grandparents and Mom & Dad.  Ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins was the highlight for her two little brothers.  It always is!  Next weekend is Emily’s kid birthday party with her friends.  More photos are available on our SmugMug site.

Update: I’ve put together a slideshow of Emily through the years.  You can see it here.

Update #2: Here are some pics from Emily’s birthday party with her friends.  About 8 of girls gathered in an artist loft to make jewelry and paint figurines.
